I think hubby couldn't sleep very well the night he took this photo. Obviously this is Saturn. It was sometime in April and he was just thrilled with the ring separation (between the rings and the planet), the coloring, the cloud bands (always thrilling), and the fact you can even see some separation in the ring itself. I have to say that after seeing the moons actually orbiting (really--you could see them move) Jupiter, getting a glimpse of Saturn with it's distinctive rings really helped me understand why there is an army of amateur astronomers even though anyone can get Hubble images on the web. It was the primary reason I suggested he begin his Astronomy course.
