Tax Freedom Day

If you don't already know (and I doubt anyone reading this blog already doesn't), Tax Freedom Day is the first day of the year you are actually earning money for yourself instead of the government. Using sales taxes, property taxes, income taxes, gas taxes, service taxes, and numerous other taxes, we spend a good portion of our time (higher than you think!) working for the federal government. I didn't agree with pretty much anything else that Alan Keyes had to say, but he was right in calling income taxes slavery.

Why Homeschool has more details about how many days one spends paying for what types of taxes, and most interestingly, a table of how much people have been paying on average since 1900. Enlightening and frightening.
